The Asus Eee PC 2Gig Surf

I got this little gem about a week ago. Ordered it through Red Barn Computers, did not pay tax, just $7 shipping/handling. Received it in a week.

Eeepc is quite nice. I love the size and the weight of it. The fact that it comes with linux is wonderful. I did have an issue with the simple gui, so I researched found some very helpful sites. I was able to change the simple gui to the advanced gui. I installed Opera to help with the zoom feature, it helps to be able to view the entire webpage and then zoom in where I want to read.

Currently I use it just for surfing, email, and dnd. Dnd, I use it to access information quickly using the pdf reader and the books that are in pdf. I also use it to do some simple editing on images. The screen is only 7", but I can still view a slide show if I need to. It's fast. I think I will try to install Picasa.

Later,

HTC Touch and S2P

This is a cool piece of software I came across for my HTC Touch, called S2P. This is landscape mode.

I had a tough time trying to figure out how to make the time show up in 12 hour format and not the 24 hour format. Every entry at the developers forum was indicating to install S2U2, which is an iPhone like slide to unlock the phone. I did not want to add this to my phone, so I read the settings for this S2U2 app and found that it used a registry setting that was labeled "TimeFormat". So I decided to add this entry myself without the installation of the software. For this, I used Total Commander: file manager that is freeware, came with its own registry editor. I then restarted my phone and it worked. Once I went into the S2P, the time was showing up as 12 hour format. Problem solved, there have been no issues with the phone or the app since. Hope this helps others with their use of the wonderful S2P app for music playback. Sure beats WMP.
